About Bridie Watt

Bridie Watt is an artist driven by a will to connect and communicate with people visually, she applies her creative spirit to all aspects of her world. Painting and drawing are the backbone of her practice however, Bridie also engages in performance art and collaborative installations to visually represent thoughts and ideas. She is at home working on a large wall in a busy street, performing for a crowd or painting in her eclectic studio.

Bridie is inspired by the natural occurring forms and shapes found in beautiful and ordinary spaces and places. Birds and other fauna often swoop into the scenes playing their part in the story. The birds are symbolic creatures and they reflect aspects of Bridie’s world.

The paintings are created in layers dancing between representational and non-representational objects.

Bridie has been exhibiting in solo and group shows since completing an honors degree in Painting at Newcastle University in 1996. She has exhibited in various galleries around Newcastle and Sydney and she has also created various landmark murals around Newcastle which have become synonymous with the area in which they were painted.
